Delhi Airport Seizes 484 Silver Coins, Gold Coin
Customs officers at Delhi airport stopped two passengers arriving from Doha.
They found many coins inside the passengers’ baggage.
There were 484 silver coins and one gold coin.
The coins were valued at Rs 47.16 lakh for customs purposes.
The total weight of the seized coins was 20.883 kilograms.
Officials said the passengers had tried to bring the goods through without declaring them.
The Archaeological Survey of India said 134 silver coins appeared to have archaeological importance.
The investigation is still continuing.
