Madhya Pradesh Faces Heavy Rain Across 18 Districts
Rainy weather is expected to continue across Madhya Pradesh.
The weather department has warned that 18 districts could receive heavy or very heavy rain on Sunday.
Dhar and Barwani may get the heaviest rain.
Western parts of the state, including Indore and Ujjain, are expected to remain especially wet.
Rain was already reported in places such as Indore, Dhar, Barwani, Ratlam and Bhopal.
A low-pressure system near the Bay of Bengal and a monsoon trough are helping bring the rain.
Some eastern districts have received slightly less rain than usual.
However, 22 districts have received more rain than normal overall.
The Mandakini River also rose in Chitrakoot, Satna.
The India Meteorological Department forecast heavy or very heavy rain in 18 Madhya Pradesh districts on Sunday, September 13.
Dhar and Barwani were warned of very heavy rain over the following 24 hours.
The monsoon is expected to remain active in western Madhya Pradesh, particularly the Indore and Ujjain divisions, for two more days.
A low-pressure area near the Bay of Bengal and a monsoon trough over southern Madhya Pradesh are driving the rain.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh has recorded slightly below-normal rainfall, while 22 districts statewide have received above-normal rain.
