$300 billion data centre bet: Maharashtra government signs MoUs to hit 5.7 GW capacity by 2031 · financialexpress.com

Maharashtra wants to build many more data centres over the next few years.

The state says companies have signed MoUs showing interest worth more than $300 billion.

If these plans happen, Maharashtra’s data-centre capacity could reach 5.7 gigawatts by 2031.

Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are expected to be important locations for this growth.

Data centres help run cloud services, artificial intelligence and many online products.

The government also wants them to use completely green power by 2028.

Officials say the projects could create demand for workers skilled in technology, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.

However, MoUs show planned or intended investment and do not guarantee that every project will be completed.
