US-India Javelin Co-Production Deal Marks Defence Partnership Milestone

US-India Javelin Co-Production Deal Marks Defence Partnership Milestone
US Ambassador calls Javelin co-production a key milestone in India-US defence partnership · thehansindia.com

India and the United States are planning to work together to make parts of the Javelin missile system in India.

Tata Advanced Systems will work with Lockheed Martin and Raytheon through the Javelin Joint Venture.

The companies signed an agreement to study how a factory in India could assemble and integrate the missiles.

Some parts will still be made in factories in Alabama and Arizona.

Those parts would then be sent to India.

Supporters say the project could create skilled jobs and teach Indian workers new defence-manufacturing skills.

It could also help India get the systems more quickly and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement is a plan to explore co-production, rather than confirmation that full production has already begun.
