Karnataka Leads India’s Chip Design Support With 73 Tape-Outs
Karnataka is currently the leading Indian state for semiconductor design support.

Through the ChipIN Centre, 81 organisations in Karnataka received help.
These organisations completed 73 chip tape-outs, meaning designs were prepared for manufacturing.
Karnataka also used electronic design software for 88 lakh hours.
Tamil Nadu and Telangana were the next leading states in several measures.

The government says this activity shows that India’s semiconductor ecosystem is growing.
Karnataka received support for 81 organisations and recorded 73 chip tape-outs through the ChipIN Centre.
The state also reported 88 lakh hours of electronic design automation tool usage, the highest among listed states.
Tamil Nadu ranked second with 79 organisations supported and 33 tape-outs, followed by Telangana with 42 and 28.
Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh also recorded significant organisation support and chip tape-outs.
The ChipIN Centre provides design tools, computing infrastructure, intellectual property cores and technical expertise under government programmes.
