They found about Rs 9 crore inside the Kerala-registered car.

The car was reportedly travelling toward Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

Two people in the car were taken into custody for questioning.

One was identified as Sachin, who is linked to a jewellery business in Thoothukudi.

Officials later searched a residence in Tamil Nadu and found more cash.

Reports differ on whether that extra amount was Rs 1.3 crore or Rs 1.35 crore.

Investigators are trying to find out where the money came from and why it was being moved.
