Heavy Rain Triggers Waterlogging, Traffic Congestion Across Delhi-NCR
It rained very heavily in Delhi and the cities around it on Friday.
The rain made the hot and sticky weather feel cooler.
But the heavy rain also caused lots of problems.
Many roads filled up with water, and this is called waterlogging.
Water covered places like Durga Vihar and Deoli Road in South Delhi.
In Noida, an ambulance got stuck in deep water beneath a flyover.
Long traffic jams formed on many roads.
Some people could not book a taxi on their phones for hours.
A few small vehicles, like e-rickshaws, scooters and motorcycles, even tipped over in the water.
The weather scientists of IMD said this is a red alert, meaning people should be extra careful and stay away from waterlogged roads.
The IMD issued a red alert for Delhi-NCR as continuous monsoon rainfall caused widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions on Friday.
An ambulance was stranded in deep water at Noida's Sector 95 underpass beneath the Mahamaya Flyover, with waterlogging also reported in Durga Vihar, Deoli Road, Chhatarpur Farm, Mehram Nagar and outside Safdarjung Hospital.
Traffic congestion was reported on routes including Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, ITO, Wazirabad Road, Patel Road, Rohtak Road, Shankar Road, the Kirti Nagar stretch, the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Peeragarhi and Shaheen Bagh.
Commuters said they could not book cabs for hours, while a multi-kilometre traffic jam was reported between Gurugram and Dhaula Kuan and slow movement on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
The IMD attributed the spell to a rare combination of multiple weather systems active over northern India, with maximum temperatures expected between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius.
