GST officials hail Andhra Pradesh's AI-driven tax administration model

Andhra Pradesh, a state, uses smart computer programs called artificial intelligence, or AI, to help do this work.
The computers help check tax returns, do audits, and handle legal cases.
Two important officials from the GST Council visited Andhra Pradesh to see how this works.
They were very impressed and said the state was the best in the country at using AI for taxes.
They think other states and the central government should copy this idea.
The Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, said he wants the central government to share data with his state to make the system even better.

GST Council Secretariat Additional Secretary Pankaj Kumar Singh and Joint Secretary DP Mishra praised Andhra Pradesh's AI-driven tax administration during a two-day visit on August 10-11.
The officials said no other state had matched the AP Commercial Taxes Department's level of AI innovation and recommended its systems be studied and replicated nationwide.
Live demonstrations showcased AI initiatives in return scrutiny, audit, inspections, and legal case management.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sought Centre and GSTN cooperation on data-sharing to scale up the state's AI-based tax systems.
The department also uses AI-enabled dashboards and GST data for real-time economic analysis, including GSDP estimation, under Real Time Governance initiatives.
