Telangana to use AI to plug GST leakages, boost revenue

Mr. Reddy met with a smart money expert named Arvind Subramanian to talk about this plan.
They want to connect different government departments' computers so nothing gets missed, especially for big construction projects.
They promise the new system will not make things harder for businesses.
This way the state can earn more money to help its people.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state government will deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to plug revenue leakages and improve fiscal health.
Reddy held discussions with noted economist and former chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian in Hyderabad on Friday, August 7.
The talks focused on AI-driven solutions to identify loopholes in the GST system, improve tax administration, and build a roadmap for increasing state revenues.
The government will introduce a specialized AI-enabled information system for GST officials and carry out reforms in the GST and Excise departments.
AI-based data integration across departments including municipal administration, RERA, panchayat raj, electricity, finance and commercial taxes will target leakages, particularly in the building and construction materials sector.
