GST Council Delegation Visits Andhra to Study AI Tax Administration

Important officials from a national tax group called the GST Council took a trip to a state in India called Andhra Pradesh.

They went to see how the state uses computers and artificial intelligence to do tax work.

Smart computer screens called dashboards show how much tax money is coming in and track tax paperwork like registrations and audits.

One special dashboard uses e-way bill data to guess how much tax the state will receive.

The tax department uses smart computer programs made by Microsoft and Google.

These programs can check tax forms for mistakes, send notices to people who owe money, and study their answers.

There is even a special AI program that helps lawyers prepare for tax court cases.

The state asked the national group for a special tool called an API that lets computers share tax information instantly.

The national officials liked what they saw and said the state's model is a great example for other states.
