Delhi 2047 Master Plan Makes Land Pooling Participation Mandatory

Delhi has a big city plan for the year 2047 called the Master Plan for Delhi 2047.

This plan brings a new way to build homes, roads, and parks called town planning schemes.

In this system, people who own land must join together and 'pool' their land once the Delhi Development Authority, or DDA, tells them to.

The DDA is the government group in charge of building and planning in Delhi.

Landowners must give 40 percent of their shared land to the DDA.

The DDA uses that land for things everyone uses together, like roads and parks.

Landowners get to keep the other 60 percent to build homes and shops.

The plan wants to fix arguments and delays that have slowed down building for many years.

The DDA hopes this will help with the shortage of homes in Delhi.

It could make room for up to 20 lakh homes, which is a very large number of houses.
