Mahindra Targets Doubling Indian Lifestyle Pickup Market With Scorpio Lifestyler
A company called Mahindra makes cars, trucks and jeeps in India.
It is making a new pickup truck called the Scorpio Lifestyler.
A pickup truck has an open back where you can carry things.
Mahindra wants this truck to be useful for work but also fun for weekends.
People could use it for fishing, camping or adventure trips.
The truck will cost less than about ₹19.79 lakh.
That is much cheaper than the Toyota Hilux, a similar truck that costs around ₹30 lakh or more.
Mahindra hopes more people will start buying lifestyle pickups in India.
It wants sales to grow from about 4,000-4,500 trucks a year to about 10,000.
The truck will start selling in India, South Africa and Australia from April 2027.
Mahindra & Mahindra will launch the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup in India by April 2027 at a starting price below ₹19.79 lakh.
The company aims to more than double India's lifestyle pickup market to close to 10,000 units annually from roughly 4,000-4,500 units now.
The entry price undercuts the Toyota Hilux, which sells at roughly ₹30.4-37.9 lakh and makes up an estimated 85-90 per cent of the segment.
India will be among the first launch markets alongside South Africa and Australia, with New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America targeted later.
The pickup will be offered in three design expressions, Valley, Reef and Trail, and will be called Mahindra Lifestyler internationally.
