Apple issues AT&T carrier update for iPhone 18 Pro Max beta users

Apple has released carrier settings update version 72.0.3 for iPhone 18 Pro Max users on AT&T who are running the iOS 27.2 beta.

Some of these phones have lost access to calls, texts and cellular data, with “SOS” appearing in the status bar.

Apple previously said iOS 27.0.1 and a carrier update were intended to stop the problem spreading to more phones.

Devices that had already lost service still need a hardware replacement, according to Apple.

The earlier carrier update was version 72.1 for users on iOS 27.0, while beta users had remained on version 72.0.2.

The issue has affected the iPhone 18 Pro Max in the United States, which uses a Qualcomm modem, but not the iPhone 18 Pro, which uses Apple’s C2 modem.

The new update brings beta users to version 72.0.3 and appears to extend Apple’s carrier changes to them.
