Jakarta Official Urges Private Venues to Offer Ojol Drivers 30 Minutes of Free Parking

Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, who leads a Jakarta city council panel on parking, wants public and private parking operators to give app-based ride and delivery drivers 30 minutes of free parking.

The proposal covers drivers picking up or dropping off passengers and collecting or delivering goods.

Jupiter said drivers can be charged even when they stop briefly for these tasks, which are part of their work serving the public.

He also called for designated spaces for drivers, clear time tracking and checks to prevent misuse.

The recommendation has not been described as an existing rule.

Jupiter said Jakarta agencies should review parking operators’ technical requirements and permits, and consider enforcement if private operators do not follow the recommendation.

He said permit renewals could be withheld where legal and administrative grounds allow it.
