Planned Swiss nuclear waste site draws concern in nearby German towns
Switzerland plans to store its radioactive waste deep underground in the Zürcher Unterland, with the first waste expected from 2050.
The proposed site is only three kilometres from the German town of Hohentengen.
Nearby residents are concerned about safety, drinking water and the effect on the area’s image.
German communities want their concerns heard and say they should receive compensation if the site goes ahead.
