ADC rival challenges Ahmad Kaita’s listing as Katsina candidate
Nigeria’s electoral commission has listed former senator Ahmad Kaita as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor of Katsina State in the 2027 election.
Salisu Uli, who is also seeking the party’s nomination, says his camp has challenged Kaita’s nomination in the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Uli says the ADC did not hold a valid primary and that his camp held its own primary on 20 June; those claims have not been independently established.
Uli’s name is not on the commission’s list, but he says the court will decide whether Kaita’s nomination is valid.
The next hearing is scheduled for 19 October.
Uli says he will remain in the ADC even if the courts uphold Kaita’s nomination.
The dispute is part of wider disagreements over the ADC’s leadership and candidate selection in Katsina.
Salisu Uli says his camp has gone to court to challenge Ahmad Kaita’s listing as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Katsina State for the 2027 election.
INEC’s published list names Kaita as the ADC candidate, with Yar’Adua Ahmed as his running mate, while Uli is not listed.
Uli alleges that the ADC did not hold a valid governorship primary, a claim that has not been independently established.
Uli said his camp filed a motion at the Federal High Court in Abuja more than a month before his 11 October interview.
The next hearing is scheduled for 19 October, and Uli says the courts will decide whether Kaita’s nomination stands.
