Bangladesh reach 317-8 on opening day of Afghanistan Test

Bangladesh scored 317 runs for the loss of eight wickets on the first day of a one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

Openers Tanzid Hasan and Shadman Islam made 83 and 67, respectively, and shared a 124-run stand.

Afghanistan then took five wickets for 101 runs to slow Bangladesh’s progress.

Litton Das scored 53 and helped add 62 runs with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladesh were still batting at stumps, with Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam at the crease.

The Test is being played at a neutral venue because security conditions mean Afghanistan hosts matches in the United Arab Emirates and India.

Play was due to resume on Saturday, with Bangladesh looking to add runs and Afghanistan aiming to take the remaining wickets.
