Yuhang outlines plans to protect and promote the Liangzhu heritage site

Yuhang, a district of Hangzhou in eastern China, is preparing to host the fourth Liangzhu Forum from October 18 to 20.

The event comes in the 90th year since the Liangzhu site was discovered.

The site provides evidence of more than 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2019.

Yuhang says it is strengthening site protection, supporting research and using digital tools to prepare for risks such as severe weather.

The district also promotes the site through museum and park displays, virtual reality experiences and cultural products.

More than 300,000 people visit the heritage site each year, according to local officials.

Yuhang plans to continue building the Liangzhu Cultural Corridor, with major projects under way and further work focused on linking culture, tourism and local development.
