Cappu Films Takes Worldwide Sales for AI-Rebuilt Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Overstake’
‘Overstake’ is a sci-fi action thriller directed by Stas Mareev.
It follows a wounded veteran who enters a deadly betting game and has two hours to cross an industrial city while trying to keep his ex-wife alive.
People receive phone offers to help him or stop him, as the game’s organizers turn their struggle into a show.
Hong Kong-based Cappu Films has taken on worldwide sales and is presenting the film to buyers at the Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Contents & Film Market.
The film combines live-action footage with settings being rebuilt using generative AI.
Mareev says the performances and story remain central, while the technology lets him rethink the environments and action.
