Q8botOne is a cable-free robot dog seeking crowdfunding
The Q8botOne is a small four-legged robot developed by Eric Yufeng Wu, who previously worked at UCLA’s RoMeLa robotics lab.
Unlike many robot kits, it has no connecting wires: its eight motors, battery and controller sit directly on a central circuit board.
The 250-gram robot is designed to jog, jump and carry twice its own weight.
Wu’s start-up, ZeroWire Robotics, is seeking crowdfunding to begin production.
A $199 kit includes the board, batteries, leg parts and controller, but buyers must purchase eight motors separately; a fully assembled version costs $599.
The robot is based on an earlier design released under an open-source licence, but the new version’s circuit-board design files have not yet been published.
The campaign runs until November 19, 2026, and delivery is planned to start in late March 2027; Wu cites motor supply, radio approval and battery shipping as risks.
Q8botOne is a 250-gram quadruped robot with no cables, with its servos, battery and microcontroller mounted directly on a central circuit board.
Developer Eric Yufeng Wu and his start-up ZeroWire Robotics are crowdfunding to finance production.
The robot measures 12 × 7 × 7 centimetres and is said to be able to jog, jump and carry twice its own weight.
The $199 kit includes the board, batteries, leg parts and controller, but not the eight servos.
As of October 12, 2026, the campaign had raised $3,787 of its $10,000 goal.
