Incheon plans autonomous buses and shuttles from 2027
Incheon plans to begin operating AI-powered autonomous public transport in 2027.
The services will use existing bus rapid transit lanes and designated autonomous-driving zones in Yeongjong and Songdo.
On the 23.8-kilometre route between Cheongna and Gangseo in Seoul, the city plans to start with one autonomous bus, prioritising night service.
It plans to add one bus each year through 2030, with a total budget of 5 billion won, and is also considering driverless or remote-controlled operation.
In Yeongjong, commuter shuttles are planned for a 9.7-kilometre route between Sky City and Unseo Station.
In Songdo, tourist and connecting shuttles are planned for a 3.7-kilometre route around Central Park, linking exhibition and convention venues, hotels and tourist sites.
