South Korea official says government results are not yet felt in daily life
South Korea’s government coordination chief, Lim Ki-geun, spoke at a National Assembly audit on Tuesday.
He said the government’s second year in office is an important time to deliver results people can feel in their daily lives.
Lim said exports and growth had risen, while deaths by suicide and industrial accidents and harm from livelihood-related crimes had fallen.
He also said people may not yet feel these changes in their everyday lives.
Lim pointed to challenges including an ageing population, low birth rates, inequality, regional decline, climate risks and instability in the Middle East.
He said the government would keep working to ensure policies lead to real improvements for people.
South Korea’s government has achieved results but people have not yet felt enough improvement in their daily lives, the head of its policy coordination office said.
Lim Ki-geun made the remarks on October 13 during a parliamentary audit of the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
He said the government had recorded exports and growth and reduced deaths from suicide and industrial accidents, as well as victims of livelihood-related crimes.
Lim said more work was needed to ensure that recovery and growth improve each person’s life.
