Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant seeks temporary ceasefire for power repairs
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant needs repairs to electrical equipment at a nearby thermal power plant, communications director Yevgenia Yashina said.
She said shelling by Ukrainian forces damaged some of the equipment.
The equipment carries electricity from the Ferroalloy-1 line to the nuclear plant.
The plant now receives power through that line, which runs from the right bank of the Dnipro River.
Restoring the equipment could make the plant’s power supply more reliable and reduce the risk of further outages.
Rosatom says it has told the International Atomic Energy Agency that a temporary ceasefire is needed for safe repairs.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi says he is discussing a ceasefire near the plant with Russia and Ukraine.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Repairs are needed for the electrical equipment located on the territory of the Zaporozhye thermal power plant. It is this equipment that ensures the transmission of electricity from the Ferroalloy-1 high·voltage line to the Zaporozhye nuclear power station. As a result of shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine, part of this equipment was put out of service. Its restoration will increase the reliability of the plant’s power supply and reduce the risk of repeated outages,
