Sightsavers India launches eye-care programme for weavers
Sightsavers India has launched a programme to improve eye care for weavers and artisans in India.
Called Looms and Lenses, it will start in Odisha and later expand to other states.
The programme plans to offer eye screenings, spectacles and referrals, with a goal of reaching one million people and providing 400,000 spectacles by 2030.
Clear vision matters to weavers because their work depends on precision, and sight problems can affect their income and independence.

Eye-care camps run with Odisha's government department in Cuttack and Bargarh have already reached around 1,000 people.
