Kenyan tea growers challenge 2025/26 bonus payment in court

The bonus is a second payment to tea growers for the 2025/26 season.

A court has allowed growers in Nyamira and Kisii to start a legal challenge over how it was calculated and paid.

They allege discrimination and breaches of the Tea Act.

Farmers also say President William Ruto’s claim about their average earnings per kilogramme was wrong.
