Spanish stock markets to open on National Day, 12 October

Spain’s stock exchanges in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia will open on Monday, 12 October, even though the country is celebrating its National Day.

The domestic bond market will also operate as usual.

The holiday is not among the five closure days in Spain’s 2026 market calendar.

The market has already closed on four scheduled holidays this year, including New Year’s Day and 1 May.

Christmas Day, 25 December, is the only scheduled closure still to come.

Trading will be limited to half a session on 24 and 31 December.

Spanish exchanges have used a calendar aligned with European markets since 1998 to help avoid price distortions and opportunities for arbitrage between markets.
