Critica upgrades 160 million tonnes at Western Australia rare earths project
Critica Limited has upgraded 160 million tonnes of its Jupiter rare earths resource in Western Australia to the indicated category.
This classification means the company has greater confidence in the geology and grade of that part of the deposit, based on closer-spaced drilling.
The rest of Jupiter’s 1.7 billion tonnes remains in the inferred category, which carries lower confidence.
Jupiter is part of Critica’s Brothers project, about 60 kilometres west of Mount Magnet.
The deposit contains rare earths used in permanent magnets for electric vehicles, wind turbines and defence applications.
The upgrade is a step toward assessing whether the large deposit can be developed, but it does not establish that mining would be profitable.
Critica says a scoping study is progressing and will be released shortly, followed by planned prefeasibility work.
Critica Limited reported an indicated resource of 160 million tonnes at its Jupiter rare earths project in Western Australia.
The indicated resource grades 1,700 parts per million total rare earth oxides, according to an estimate prepared by SRK Consulting.
Jupiter’s total resource is 1.7 billion tonnes, with 1.5 billion tonnes still classified as inferred.
The upgrade followed infill drilling across 3.3 square kilometres, using a 125-metre by 125-metre grid.
Critica said a scoping study is progressing, with prefeasibility work planned afterwards.
- Who
- Critica Limited, which owns the Jupiter project.
- What
- The company reported a maiden indicated resource of 160 million tonnes grading 1,700 parts per million total rare earth oxides.
- When
- October 12, 2026.
- Where
- The Jupiter project, near Mount Magnet in Western Australia.
- Why
- Infill drilling increased confidence in the geology and grade continuity of the drilled area, allowing some material to be upgraded from inferred to indicated.
This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
The delivery of Jupiter’s first Indicated Mineral Resource is an important milestone and demonstrates the effectiveness of the targeted infill drilling completed over the past year.
The results provide increased confidence in the geological and grade continuity of the infill-drilled area, while the vast majority of the Jupiter resource remains classified as Inferred.
Critica completed targeted infill drilling at Jupiter.
Critica reported the project’s first indicated resource estimate.
Critica said a scoping study was progressing and prefeasibility work was planned afterwards.
