Apple may partner with ADT to install its upcoming smart home devices

Apple is preparing to unveil new smart home products, including a display called HomeView and accessories developed with LG.

The accessories reportedly include a door lock, thermostat, video doorbell and security cameras.

Some devices may need wiring or wall mounting, which can be harder to set up than a speaker or streaming box.

ADT has technicians who install equipment in customers’ homes, so it could help Apple provide installation without building its own network.

Signs include ADT hiring low-voltage technicians in several US cities and reportedly giving some new hires iPhone 17 Pro phones for work.

Those employees are said to have signed confidentiality agreements and to be working with connected-home equipment, but the details are not confirmed.

Apple is preparing to unveil its new smart home hardware on October 13, and more details about the technicians’ roles are expected later this month.

A possible ADT partnership, including whether it would cover security monitoring, remains unconfirmed.
