China Construction Bank Starts Applying Home Loan Interest Subsidies
A policy offering interest subsidies on home loans took effect across China on October 1.
China Construction Bank moved to apply it during the National Day holiday, including by setting up service teams and helping customers understand the process.
The bank says it issued subsidised loans in several provinces and cities, including Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Anhui and Beijing.
Some customers were applying for new homes, while others were buying existing homes or seeking a first home.
The savings vary by loan: the bank estimates that one 450,000-yuan loan could save more than 20,000 yuan in interest over five years.
The support is intended to reduce the cost of buying a home for eligible households, including people who have moved to cities for work.
The bank says it will continue promoting the policy and improving how customers access the subsidy.
China’s resident home-loan interest subsidy policy took effect nationwide on October 1, 2026.
China Construction Bank said it prepared service procedures, subsidy confirmation forms and system functions to help eligible borrowers receive the subsidy without applying separately.
During the National Day holiday, the bank’s branches promoted the policy and processed loans in several provinces and cities.
In Sichuan, branches issued 2.1 million yuan in subsidized loans to four homebuyers on the policy’s first day.
In Guangdong, the bank processed more than 500 million yuan in subsidized loans during the holiday.
The bank said it would continue publicizing the policy and improving its services to reach more eligible households.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
The policy had just taken effect and I was already benefiting from the interest subsidy. The process was also convenient; I can check the subsidy details through mobile banking and clearly see how much interest I have saved.
We benefited as soon as the policy took effect. The process was smooth and reassuring, and it has genuinely eased the pressure of settling down and helped make our dream of having a home of our own come true.
I will pay 500 yuan less each month and save 30,000 yuan over five years, which I can use for renovations. I used to think buying a home would squeeze our everyday spending; with this policy, the pressure of buying is lighter.
I was still torn between renting and buying, but the policy has given me a lot of confidence. The mortgage payments are about the same as my current rent, so I plan to settle on a home soon and arrange the loan as quickly as possible.
