Coalition migration plan faces political risks as One Nation sets the agenda
The Coalition wants to reduce the number of people moving to Australia on a net basis.
Its plan would bring that number to 100,000 in each of the first two years, then raise it to 160,000 by year four.
One Nation has proposed a bigger initial cut, giving it a strong position in the debate.
Changing migration rules can also affect workers and businesses, so the choices may bring difficult trade-offs.
