Nintendo’s Super Mario 64 browser port is partly disabled after copyright report

A Claude-assisted multiplayer version of Super Mario 64 was partly disabled after a copyright owner report on X. The project was created by Oliver Sauter, and the webpage hosting it is still online.

The port is part of a recent wave of AI-assisted game projects, including ports and modifications shared online.

Other Nintendo games, including Super Mario Odyssey and Smash Bros.

Ultimate, have also been ported or are being ported to PC.

Nintendo has a history of taking legal action over game emulators and related projects, but most of these ports have not drawn public legal action so far.

Nintendo removed hundreds of Suyu emulator forks from GitHub in August 2026, but Suyu itself remains there.

A recent Suyu version can export game CPU code into C, which can help with porting or reverse engineering, and the sources do not say what Nintendo will do next.
