Chinese spending per domestic trip hits four-year low during Golden Week

Chinese travellers spent less on each domestic trip during the 2026 Golden Week holiday than in any year since 2022.

More people used the longer holiday period to travel overseas.

Movie ticket sales also fell to their lowest level for the holiday in 12 years.

The figures point to cautious spending at home, despite strong demand for travel.
