French business failures top 70,000 over 12 months
Business failures include companies placed into court-supervised restructuring or liquidation.
France recorded 70,766 such cases in the 12 months to August, 4.8% more than a year earlier.
The total was 19.3% above the 2010–2019 average.
The Bank of France said weak economic conditions, repeated shocks and uncertainty had strained some companies, even as more than 1.2 million businesses were created over the same 12 months.
