Google adds health features and improved activity tracking to Fitbit devices
Google is adding Health Guardian to its Fitbit Air and Fitbit Edge wearables later this month for Google Health Premium subscribers.
The feature, first introduced for the Pixel Watch, will show monthly trends in blood pressure and insulin resistance in the Health app.
Its in-app Health Coach will offer wellness suggestions and information users can discuss with a doctor.
Google is also updating automatic activity tracking on the Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge and Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5.
The update is designed to recognize more than 100 types of workouts, up from 10, and better detect activities such as tennis and high-intensity interval training.
Google says the changes cut missed workouts by more than half in its tests.
