Survey links Telangana school breakfast scheme to higher enrolment and attendance

Telangana started serving breakfast and milk to students in government schools this academic year.

A survey in 60 schools in Kodangal found enrolment was 13% higher than the previous year, and respondents reported a 20–22% rise in attendance.

Most surveyed students ate the breakfast, and teachers said hunger complaints fell.

The findings suggest meals may help children attend school and feel ready to learn, but they cover one constituency.
