Tharoor says Modi government will go amid opposition criticism
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said, “This government will go,” repeating a slogan used by Rahul Gandhi two days earlier.
Tharoor is a member of Parliament representing Thiruvananthapuram.
Opposition parties have criticised the government over the Election Commission’s SIR exercise, conducted under Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
They have alleged irregularities in the exercise and objected to security forces being used against protests targeting Kumar.
Gandhi has led protests and called for Kumar to resign.
A youth-led group’s planned protest in Delhi was largely curtailed, and several people, including political figures, were detained.
Tharoor made his remarks ahead of a Congress march to the Supreme Court.
