Google is developing a TV Streamer with microphones and presence sensing

Google is developing a new version of its Google TV Streamer, a device for watching streaming services on a television.

It is expected to keep a similar design, with a slightly narrower body.

Built-in microphones could let people use “Hey Google” commands without picking up the remote.

Presence sensing could detect when someone enters a room and show a Google Photos screensaver, then display information such as the time and weather when they move closer.

The new device is also expected to have a faster processor, more storage than the current model’s 32GB and two additional remote shortcuts.

These changes could make the device easier to use and give it more capacity for apps, though the exact hardware details are not known.

Google has not said when the new model will launch or what it will cost; the current model’s price rose by $50 in August.
