Singapore and Brunei mark 50 years of defence ties with joint parade

Singapore and Brunei marked 50 years of defence relations with a joint military parade at Muara Naval Base in Brunei on Saturday.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah attended, alongside 256 personnel from the two countries’ armed forces.

The parade included land, naval and air force contingents, a sail-past by three vessels and a helicopter fly-past.

The two countries have marked the anniversary with a year-long series of activities, including military exercises and new cooperation initiatives.

The ties involve regular exercises, visits and professional exchanges, and the anniversary gallery highlighted milestones from the past five decades.

The anniversary activities are continuing, and Singapore said it remains committed to developing further cooperation with Brunei.
