Ceiling collapse in Daegu injures 38 during kitchenware sales event

Ceiling material collapsed on the second floor of a four-story building in Daegu, a city in southeastern South Korea, at about 10:16 a.m.

on Saturday.

A kitchenware sales event for older customers was taking place there.

All 66 people inside left the building, and 38 sustained minor injuries, including abrasions.

Nine people were taken to hospitals, but none were in critical condition.

Firefighters searched the building and found no further casualties.

Authorities have formed an investigation team to examine possible structural defects and whether safety measures were followed.

A joint on-site investigation is planned for Monday, and the cause of the collapse has not yet been established.
