Indonesia’s government raises Rp494.3 trillion in debt by September

Indonesia’s government had raised Rp494.3 trillion in debt financing by 30 September 2026, according to Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara.

That was 59.4% of the Rp832.2 trillion target in the 2026 state budget.

Net bond sales brought in Rp497.5 trillion, while net loan financing was minus Rp3.2 trillion.

The total was lower than the Rp502.9 trillion raised by the same point in 2025, though bond financing was higher than a year earlier.

Suahasil said the borrowing remained on track and that the government was watching domestic bond markets and global economic conditions.

It plans to adjust bond issuance depending on market conditions, aiming to manage financing costs and risks.

By the end of September, the budget deficit stood at Rp319 trillion, equal to 1.24% of gross domestic product.
