Palisades proposes tool to remove tipped nuclear fuel assembly

A fuel assembly tipped during refuelling at the Palisades reactor, delaying its planned restart.

Holtec wants to use a special tool and protective canister to remove it.

The company says the fuel remains intact, and regulators say no radiation was released.

The NRC has not decided whether to approve the plan, while environmental critics say the recovery could be risky.
