Dutch organisations develop MyCheck digital identity wallet
A coalition of Dutch organisations is developing MyCheck, a digital identity wallet for people in the Netherlands.
The initiative includes ABN AMRO, Achmea, ASN, Deloitte, KPN and Rabobank, with A.S.R. and Nationale-Nederlanden saying they want to use it.
The app is designed for tasks such as logging in, proving age, sharing details and signing contracts.
Users decide which information to share, and can provide only what is needed for a particular service.
MyCheck is intended as a Dutch alternative to similar services from large international technology companies.
The initiative comes as new EU rules, known as eIDAS 2.0, require EU countries to develop a new digital identity system by the end of 2027.
The organisations have offered to introduce the wallet with the Dutch government at no cost to the government or users.
The coalition is discussing participation with other organisations, while the Dutch government has welcomed trials of wallets that meet the EU rules.
