Independent producers from five Asian territories launch cross-border alliance
Independent producers from South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan have formed the Asian Producers Alliance.
They launched it at the Asian Contents & Film Market during the Busan International Film Festival.
The group aims to help producers make films across borders and strengthen protection for creators’ intellectual property rights.
It brings together five producer organizations, with no studios, conglomerates or state bodies involved.
The alliance begins as a consultative group and hopes to develop a formal decision-making structure.
Other producer organizations across Asia can join during its first year, and more than one organization from a territory may take part.
Members plan to meet online every three months and hold an annual assembly at the Busan market.
The alliance’s next seminar is scheduled for December in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and will focus on creators’ intellectual property.
