American Airlines to suspend Tulum-Miami flights, leaving Dallas as its only route

American Airlines will suspend its Tulum-Miami service on Jan.

5, 2027.

Tulum’s airport is in southeastern Mexico, a region where US visitors make up the largest share of international tourists.

Dallas-Fort Worth will be the airline’s only remaining Tulum route in January, with one flight a day.

The airline is also switching to a smaller aircraft, with a maximum capacity of 78 passengers.

Tulum airport has lost flights as airline incentives ended, prompting carriers to leave from 2025 onward.

The airport’s average traffic is now about 10 flights a day, nearly three-quarters below its peak, according to national aviation authority figures.

The route cuts add pressure to international visitor numbers, while Mexicana and Viva Aerobus continue daily domestic service from the airport.
