IMF sees Mexico’s growth rising to 1.8% in 2027, partly on AI exports
The International Monetary Fund expects Mexico’s economy to grow by 1.5% in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027, after growth of 0.6% in 2025.
The forecast for 2027 partly depends on Mexico continuing to supply goods used in technology and artificial intelligence supply chains.
Mexico has become an expanding supplier of computer equipment used in data centres, according to analysts at S&P Global.
In the first half of 2026, exports of this equipment reached $82.9 billion, up 172.1% from a year earlier.
S&P Global said these exports could exceed shipments of cars and auto parts as soon as 2026.
The IMF also expects investment in Mexico to stabilise, but says uncertainty over trade will remain.
A Mexican economist said lasting growth from the technology shift will require moving into activities that create more value.
The International Monetary Fund expects Mexico’s economy to grow 1.8% in 2027, partly supported by exports linked to artificial intelligence value chains.
The forecast assumes investment in Mexico stabilizes, while the IMF says trade uncertainty will persist.
The IMF also forecasts 1.5% growth in 2026, up from its July estimate of 1.2%.
Mexico’s economy grew 0.6% in 2025, according to the article.
Analysts say Mexico’s growing exports of computer equipment used in data centers could help support the outlook.
