Pakistan court gives Sara Sharif’s grandfather custody of her five siblings
A court in Pakistan has awarded guardianship of Sara Sharif’s five siblings to their paternal grandfather, Muhammed Sharif.
The children, aged four to 16, will continue living with him in Jhelum.
Sara, who was 10, was killed in 2023 by her father, Urfan Sharif, and her stepmother, Beinash Batool.
They fled to Pakistan with the children, but were later arrested after returning to the UK, convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
The siblings were found in Jhelum and placed temporarily with their grandfather in October 2023.
Before the ruling, the eldest told the judge they felt comfortable and settled in Pakistan, and all but the youngest attend school there.
The children are understood to keep their British passports.
Surrey County Council had earlier failed in its bid to return them to the UK.
