OpenAI’s math paper release disrupted projects by early-career researchers, professor says

OpenAI published more than 700 math manuscripts, including some proofs that computers can check.

A New York University professor said the release made some early-career researchers’ projects no longer new.

Other mathematicians worry that researchers may share ideas less openly if they fear AI could use them first.

OpenAI said it plans to improve the papers and fund workshops to help researchers understand the results.
