Betsy Braddock’s New X-Men Codename Is Butterfly
Marvel editor Tom Brevoort has said that X-Men hero Betsy Braddock will use the codename Butterfly.
She is part of Maximum X-Men, a team set to launch in December and take over as Earth’s main protectors.
The team also includes Bishop, Colossus, Iceman, Firestar and Justice.
Braddock was previously known as Psylocke and Captain Britain, but she has moved on from both names.
She gave up Psylocke after the character Kwannon reclaimed her body, and later ended her time as Captain Britain.
Butterfly refers to the pink butterfly shape of Braddock’s telepathic energy.
Marvel had not yet shown the new name in the comics, and fans had expected it to appear in an October 14 Captain Britain anniversary special; it is not clear whether Brevoort revealed it earlier than planned.
