Energy secretary denies backing companies for Pemex contracts

Mexico’s Energy Secretary, Luz Elena González Escobar, has rejected claims that she helped two companies obtain contracts with state oil company Pemex.

The claims appeared in a column published on October 11.

González said the column offered no evidence for its claims.

She said Pemex had not awarded contracts to La Cosmopolitana or Productos Serel during her time as secretary.

She also said Pemex reported that the companies had no active contracts and were not on its supplier register from 2024.

González asked the newspaper to publish her clarification; no further action is described.
