Clippers Waive Japanese Guard Yuki Kawamura

The Los Angeles Clippers have waived Japanese point guard Yuki Kawamura, opening a spot on their preseason roster, which now has 20 players.

Kawamura, 25, has played 40 NBA regular-season games since making his debut with Memphis in 2024, including 18 games for Chicago last season.

He has averaged 2.5 points and 1.7 assists in the NBA, while putting up stronger numbers in the G League.

Before moving to the United States, he starred in Japan’s B.League, where he was named Most Valuable Player in 2022/23 and led the league in assists the following season.

He appeared in both of the Clippers’ preseason games and scored 10 points with four assists in 14 minutes against Toronto.

Kawamura was on an Exhibit 10 contract, which makes him eligible for a $91,000 bonus if he chooses to play for the Clippers’ G League affiliate, the San Diego Clippers, and spends at least 60 days there.
